BREAKING-Updated: LSU’s QB, Walker Howard Enters NCAA Transfer Portal

Howard was a decorated 2022 recruit but will look for a quicker path to playing time elsewhere.

It was unlikely that he would have had much of a shot at seeing the field in 2023 with Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier returning.

Howard was rated by the 247Sports Composite as the 5th-best quarterback in the 2022 class and the No. 40 overall prospect.

The 6-1, 195-pounder chose the Tigers over Florida and also had offers from the likes of Alabama, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, among several others.

LSU finished 10-4 in Brian Kelly’s 1st season in Baton Rouge. The Tigers won the SEC West and whipped Purdue in the Citrus Bowl, 63-7.

LSU quarterback Walker Howard spent one year in Baton Rouge and is already looking for a fresh start. The redshirt freshman entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal Wednesday.

Ranked as the nation’s No. 5 quarterback and the No. 34 prospect overall on the 247Sports Composite, Howard signed with LSU in Brian Kelly’s first class in Baton Rouge over offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Notre Dame, and many others.

Where Howard ends up is anyone’s guess, but TCU and Florida are two to schools to keep an eye on.

Howard played in only two games in 2022 and completed 2-of-4 passes for 7 yards. He will have four years of eligibility at the school he transfers to.
