The Tigers’ 2023 recruiting class is rolling, but this coaching staff is looking to elevate its status even more, specifically in the secondary. Already securing a few prospects, LSU cut five-star cornerback Desmond Ricks and will host him for his last official visit in December before announcing his commitment.
LSU, along with Alabama and Florida, made Ricks’ final three schools with a commitment date set for Dec. 23.
The No. 2 overall player in the 2024 class reclassified into the 2023 cycle last week, looking to skip his senior year and enter college.
Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star cornerback and Virginia native Desmond Ricks locked in his commitment date for Dec. 23, the last day of the Early Signing Period.
Ricks will decide between Alabama, Florida and LSU. All three programs will get officials in December with the Gators coming the first weekend, the Crimson Tide the second and the Tigers the third.
“Really all three of them are a good place to develop and play,” Ricks’ father Vernon told 247Sports.Top Stories
Ricks will enroll early at his chosen school but plans to use the entire three-day signing period to get his decision down to one program.
“He wanted to use as much time as he could to think about where he wants to go,” the elder Ricks said.
Ricks father elaborated on what stands out about each program.
Regarding the Crimson Tide: “He can really go there and really develop. You have Coach T-Rob and of course Coach Saban will have hands on with him. That’s what he likes about Alabama.”
