Head coach Brian Kelly mentioned after Saturday’s win that Bech had a strain in his lower back and it tightened up again, Wilson Alexander of The New Orleans Advocate reports.
ANALYSIS
It sounds like Bech was trying to play through the back issue and ultimately could not stick it out. Bech had a rough game, as he muffed a punt and did not receive a single target on offense. Despite the mistake, coach Kelly backed Bech as the team’s top punt returner. He’ll figure to remain involved primarily on special teams if he’s able to suit up on Oct. 22 against Mississippi State.
