How the LSU RBs break down

Over the last two seasons, Ty Davis-Price has been the leading rusher for the Tigers. He now looks to make the jump to the NFL after three seasons with LSU. TDP was a four-star signee in the 2019 recruiting class. In his time in Baton Rouge, he rushed for 1,745 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The biggest memory for the Baton Rouge native was setting the new school record for rushing yards in a game. His 287-yard performance against the Florida Gators not only broke a Tigers record but it was the most yards allowed by Florida.

While they do lose their top rusher from 2020-21, the team still sits in really good shape at the running back position. With the chance of signing TreVonte’ Citizen, the group could improve even more.

The Tigers will welcome back five-star running back from the 2019 class, John Emery Jr. He was expected to have a major role in the offense last season but after being ruled ineligible, Emery looks to be the feature back of the Brian Kelly offense.

Over his first two seasons, Emery averaged five yards per attempt on the ground. He also added 6.7 yards per reception. The dual-threat running back should have a big part of the offense. He is slightly bigger than former Notre Dame running back Kyren Williams, but that is the level of impact that he could have. Williams ran the ball 214 times for the Irish with another 42 receptions. Give No. 4 the ball and let him work.

Much like Emery, Noah Cain comes in with low tread on the tires after he played one game in 2020. He suffered a leg injury on the third carry of that season so there is some injury history with him. The Baton Rouge native returns home to get a fresh start.

Cain comes to the Tigers with 193 career carries for 806 yards and 12 touchdowns. Most of that damage came as a freshman for the Nittany Lions offense. He can be a physical runner both inside and outside for the offense. Last season against Auburn, he ran the ball 19 times for 45 yards but did score a touchdown.
