Weekend predictions #2

David Murray (11-2 last week, 24-3 this season)

It’s been a long time since these programs met on the same field, and lots longer since meeting on equal-ish terms. Memphis has found its stride in the AAC and an offense that suits their signings. Now, are they ready to take down a SEC visitor? Maybe, because State’s scoring inconsistency is the concern with a shootout setting up. Sheer hunch but a defensive touchdown makes the difference.

Texas A&M 48, New Mexico 0

Talk about excellent timing for a scrimmage game, the new quarterback needs fast polishing before next week.

Kentucky 35, Chattanooga 3

Maybe the Wildcats will get some respect in the rankings after another win.

Missouri 31, SE Missouri State 7

Missouri can use this pushover to gain a little September momentum.

Tennessee 42, Tennessee Tech 10

The Pitt loss still stings, and a trip to Florida looms so the Vols need this easy Saturday to address items.

Alabama 28, Florida 12

Alabama’s offense faces a real defense at last, but the Gators aren’t full-strength on that side this week.

Arkansas 32, Georgia Southern 14

There has to be some come-down from last week, not to mention look-ahead to next week.

Georgia 34, South Carolina 7

It won’t matter who quarterbacks the Bulldogs, they’re going to roll while S.C. will struggle to move the ball at all.

Penn State 17, Auburn 13

Auburn’s defense is a real deal but the offense hasn’t been tested yet, certainly not on the road in a rabid environment.

LSU 27, Central Michigan 6

It’s a home game the Tigers really need to straighten out issues before a SEC road trip.
