On Wednesday, Kelly made it clear that he doesn’t think his team is ready to play right now.
“We’re not ready to play,” said Kelly. “If we had to play tomorrow, we’re not ready yet.”
Not exactly encouraging, right?
Kelly hasn’t been able to do anything with his team yet. He has barely been to start building his culture.
The good news for LSU fans, though, is that Kelly is extremely confident that his team will be ready by fall.
“We’ll be ready,” added Kelly. “It’s going to be a process for us. I like the fact, like many teams I’ve had in the past, with this being my fifth time I’ve done this, there is a want-to.”
This isn’t new territory for Kelly. He’s been at this for a long time. He knows exactly what needs to happen this spring to turn the Tigers into a SEC contender. And his track record suggests that he’ll get LSU to where they need to be by late August.
