Opinion: LSU, With the Best Transfer, HS Football Recruiting Balance, is Kelly a Wizard?

Brian Kelly has hit the ground running ever since he got in Baton Rouge. He’s even adjusted his accent to fit in with the locals so it’s exciting. Taking the momentum from beating a team like Alabama down the stretch, has added key guys, transfer portal, high school, he’s got a bunch of guys in there that fit his mold. Big guys on defense that can run, that can hit. Good offensive linemen. A really good class by him on both sides of the ball.”

Brian Kelly landed the No. 4 overall class but no team in the top 5 has more players coming in than LSU. The Tigers have 36 commitments and 11 of them are transfers that look to help them build on a strong 2022 campaign that included a trip to the SEC Championship Game. LSU recently landed former Oregon State linebacker Omar Speights, a four-star transfer. There’s a number of other four-star transfers making their way to Baton Rouge as well, including Alabama transfer wide receiver Aaron Anderson, Arizona transfer defensive lineman Paris Shand, former Texas A&M cornerback Denver Harris, ex-West Virginia defensive lineman Jordan Jefferson, Southeast Louisiana transfer cornerback Zy Alexander, former Syracuse cornerback Duce Chestnut and ex-Ohio State cornerback JK Johnson. LSU also signed the nation’s No. 15 overall recruit in offensive tackle Zalance Heard, a product of Monroe (La.) Neville.
