LSU’s sixth player officially entered the transfer portal on Thursday edge rusher Desmond Little.
Only three of the six players to enter the portal were on the purple and gold roster for the 2022 season. Little totaled 16 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and three for a loss in 14 career games. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
The Tigers have long known there will be work to do in retooling this roster for the 2023 season and the defensive line is just one of the areas the Tigers will need to address. A few extremely talented pass rushers are committed to LSU in the 2023 class, but building quality depth in the trenches will be a priority for Brian Kelly and Jamar Cain.
As it currently stands, only Zavier Carter remains as the Tigers’ player with some experience playing the JACK linebacker position, with BJ Ojulari likely moving on to the NFL and Little went as well. Returning Maason Smith helps with the potential Jaquelin Roy departure. In contrast, the internal development of Carter, Sai’vion Jones, and Quency Wiggins could help LSU roll into next year with a pretty stout 1-2 punch on the edge to replace Ojulari and Ali Gaye.
