LSU now has four scholarship quarterbacks heading into Kelly’s first spring practice, which begins March 24. Daniels joined fifth-year senior Myles Brennan, redshirt freshman Garrett Nussmeier and freshman Walker Howard — a strong group but one that doesn’t have a returning starter.
Adding Daniels left the Tigers with three more spots in the 2022 recruiting class, which they are expected to use on more transfers in the months ahead. Daniels became the 14th player to transfer to LSU this cycle.
After Daniels signed with Arizona State as the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback and No. 35 overall player in the country, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, he had a breakout freshman season. Daniels entered the NCAA transfer portal in February after originally saying in a video on social media he would return to Arizona State for a fourth season. His departure dealt another blow to the Sun Devils’ program, which has been under an NCAA investigation for recruiting violations.
