LSU Has Done Wonders With NCAA Transfer Portal In 2022

Brian Kelly is trying to remake LSU into a contender in a hurry. The Tigers have been busy in the transfer portal, and 247Sports’ Bud Elliott thinks highly of several additions. On the ‘Cover 3 Podcast,’ Elliott talked about LSU’s impressive efforts in the transfer portal. Offensively, Elliott says the team has gotten several potential difference-makers. One of them is former four-star running back Noah Cain, who can bring some toughness to the backfield.

“I think LSU has done a really nice job over the last couple of days,” Elliott said. “They are currently our No. 1 transfer portal team on the 247Sports Transfer Portal team rankings. I like Noah Cain. I’m biased here. I covered him at IMG when he was coming up. He’s a kid from Louisiana, and they question on him was always speed. Then he got hurt, so I’m sure he lost a little bit more. He’s a guy who will pass pro, he can catch the ball a little bit, and I think he can still be a tough runner for you between the tackles. If he regains some of that explosiveness, then LSU may have found a gem. … Nice job on the offensive line as well with Miles Frazier and … Tre’mond Shorts. I think they’re doing a nice job rebuilding that.”

When it comes to the defense, the Tigers upgraded their front seven, according to Elliott. Former Missouri pass-rusher Mekhi Wingo could make an immediate impact for LSU, and linebacker West Weeks could be an under-the-radar addition that pays off for Kelly and his defense.
